There is, maybe more in France though, an eternal feud going on between editors and photographers, but these last few years, I actually taken a liken to these adventures companions.

To start it out, the excellent Jean-Cosme Delaloye I already talked about in the previous post, one the pro-eminent member of the New York Franco-Helvetic community, editor-in-chief of the voice of my homeland France-Amerique, and correspondant for the voice of his homeland, the Geneva Tribune.

N.B: Jean-Cosme, don’t think you gonna get away with it, you photograph well BUT I really do need a raise. Bisoux!

The voice of the homeland is out and take you this month in the head of a James Bond’s bad guy!

Now, to talk a little about the pictures, let’s just say band photography is fun and frustrating at the same time: You get there willing to be William Claxton or James Marshall chillin’ and jammin’, but this industry is now worldwide and that time is over. Now, you find yourself in front of two jetlaged norvegians lads, who came out of the plane 30 minutes before the shoot, who barely know anyway in which country they are, and a publicist who tells you you only got 11 minutes.

Just between us, have you guys noticed that only car services and PR people are that precise with time?  I am writing this of course with all the respect due to these professions….. My wife beeing a publicist herself…

Anyhow, it could sound like a disaster waiting to happen without the elegance and kindness of the Kings, who played me a song in a stairwell, even accepted to climb up on the roof and had the decency to only call me annoying in Norwegian. Thanks guys!

Last week, I posted on here a portrait of me taken by  Erlend, I thought I ‘d show you the reverse shot.

A few weeks ago, I went to photograph the Kings of Convenience for Death+Taxes magazine on the EMI rooftop.

As I was climbing on some gutter, Erlend Øye took my camera and snapped that picture of me. Pretty cool, huh?

I don’t usually shoot press conferences or at least when I do, I don’t usually show the pictures.

But Fabrice Luchini is an exception, and I must say that standing next to him on Park Avenue while he is quoting the arrival in New York from LF Celine will remain in my memory for a while.

I leave you guys with these amazing words, in french, because some things should not be translated et parce que cela me plait.

“Figurez-vous qu’elle était debout leur ville, absolument droite. New York c’est une ville debout.”

Another photograph from last week, I had a coffee my very old friend Marine and my very new friend Isadora last thursday morning, right after they came back from the homeland, we enjoyed a long walk and I snapped a picture when I was time to say goodbye.

September has been pretty cool so far: fun editorial jobs, interesting people, good pictures. But……… I can’t show anything since it hasn’t been pusblished yet. Bummer.

So for all of you die hard Axel Dupeux’s fans, shivering with cold sweat behind your computer, checking that blog over and over, sometimes a few times a day (and night?) , and mainly for you too Mum & Dad, I created this new “bits and pieces” category that will showcase pictures that are outside the corpus of my work ( I would like to attract your attention on the very nice use of the word “Corpus” in that previous sentence, sounds like a RISD student writing his final statement), outside any particular stories, well basically photographs I don’t know what da hell to do with.

To start out this new category, you will below a few pictures of the Beautiful Graceland, Elvis’ ranch down in Memphis TN, where I did a short pilgrimage this summer and which definitely qualify as one of  the dumbest place I have ever been to….. And I am a guy who hangs out in chicken slaughterhouses on his sparetime.

My main gay and Beloved brother-in-law, Steven Spavento stopped by yesterday to have his picture taken. Check his work on his site here.

Besides his work as an illustrator, he also creates these little plush guys, they will be showcased this week at 186 Orchard street among some other cool kidz including, but not limited to, my gals Virginia Craddock and Charlene “Chuck” Foster.
